The nearest airport is Newquay which is about 1 hour away from Falmouth by car. If you are flying into London Heathrow or London Gatwick, trains can be caught from London Paddington to Truro. A connecting train from Truro will bring you to Falmouth Town train station and The Rathgowry is a 5 minute walk away.
Mainline trains come into Truro from London Paddington and other destinations. At Truro catch a local branch line to Falmouth Town station. Falmouth Town is a five minute walk away from The Rathgowry, however, if you have many bags to carry then a taxis are available.
If you are driving down from the London direction, then we would recommend that you take the M5 South rather than the A303 via Stonehenge as the latter can be extremely slow going (unless of course, you wish to stop at Stonehenge!). From the M5, continue to Junction 31 and then take the A30 to Truro. At Truro take the A39 on to Falmouth. You will drive through Penryn. Entering Falmouth, you will first pass Lidl supermarket on the left; continue straight on at the roundabouts passing McDonalds on the left and follow the road uphill to the traffic lights next to Majestic Wine Warehouse. Continue straight ahead at the lights and then straight ahead at the next two roundabouts. You will then see a green signpost on the left with directions to Falmouth and docks...you should turn right just before that sign onto Gyllyngvase Hill (you will see a large black and white hotel on the right adjacent to the turning for Gyllyngvase Hill). The Rathgowry is situated towards the bottom of the hill on the left hand side. There is parking for 7 cars on the forecourt in front of the guesthouse. If this is full there is alternative free parking nearby.
